Plot:  When M. Beaucaire, a handsome barber, catches the Duke of Winterset cheating at gambling, Beaucaire exacts Winterset's cooperation in sneaking Beaucaire into a great ball, disguised as the Duke de Chartres, and to introduce him to the beautiful Lady Mary. The disguised barber successfully pulls off the masquerade and is soon the toast of society. But Winterset is embittered at having been blackmailed so, and he sets out to destroy Beaucaire if he can do so without revealing his own duplicity.
Rotten Tomatoes:   Duke de Charres (Rudolph Valentino) is a French nobleman who escapes his warn-torn country in this costume drama. He settles in Britain where he becomes Monsieur Beaucaire and sets up shop as a fashionable barber. Lowell Sherman plays King Louis XV of France, with Lois Wilson as Queen Marie and Bebe Daniels as Princess Henrietta. Beaucaire becomes enamored with the beautiful Lady Mary (Doris Kenyon) and later reveals to her he is of noble blood. Watch for former Vitagraph comedienne Flora Finch as the Duchess de Montmorency. The excellent cast and the popularity of Valentino saved this plodding melodrama from being more than a routine feature.

Plot:  Lydia Thorne, a wealthy girl who loves speed and thrills, is unsympathetic when Evans, her maid, is jailed for stealing her jewels. District Attorney Daniel O'Bannon visits Lydia to make her see the error of her own ways, but instead views a scene of Lydia and her friends that reminds him of a Roman orgy. O'Bannon feels it is his duty, therefore, to send Lydia to jail for her own good when her automobile driving causes the death of a motorcycle policeman. Lydia is resentful, and her rebuff of O'Bannon, who has come to love her, causes him such remorse that he turns to drink and dissipation. Meanwhile, Lydia reforms, realizes she loves O'Bannon, and resolves to do charitable work. She and Evans open a soup kitchen after their release, and a chance meeting with O'Bannon starts him on the road to recovery. With Lydia's encouragement he becomes himself again, runs for governor, but withdraws his candidacy to marry Lydia when he sees that her record would be a liability to him in politics.
Rotten Tomatoes:   In this film, Lydia Thorne is a wayward woman with a penchant for fast cars. She bribes a policeman with a diamond bracelet, but the lawman's livid wife demands her husband return the valuable bauble. When the cop dies trying to catch the speeding Lydia, she is charged with manslaughter.

Plot:  Two wagon caravans converge at what is now Kansas City, and combine for the westward push to Oregon. On their quest the pilgrims will experience desert heat, mountain snow, hunger, and indian attack. To complicate matters further, a love triangle develops, as pretty Molly must chose between Sam, a brute, and Will, the dashing captain of the other caravan. Can Will overcome the skeleton in his closet and win Molly's heart?
Rotten Tomatoes:   The Covered Wagon is credited with being the first big-budget epic western. Producer Jesse Lasky replaced director George Melford with James Cruze, a Utah native familiar with the life and often brutal realities of the West. Mary Miles Minter was slated to appear in the film, but her mother turned down the offer. The role of Molly Wingate went to Lois Wilson, who promptly became a star. People in the East travel to California in the 1840s prior to the gold rush, with some of the settlers heading for Oregon after crossing the dangerous Platte River. Stampedes, Indian attacks, and the hardships of life on the plains are depicted with a documentary flair. Over 3,000 extras included 1,000 Native Americans and 300 authentic covered wagons. Guy Oliver plays explorer Kit Carson, with Alan Hale as the villain Sam Woodhull. J. Warren Kerrigan, Charles Ogle, Ethel Wales, Ernest Torrence, John Fox and Tully Marshall complete the all-star cast. The decision to turn down the role offered by Cruze adversely affected the career of Minter. She never recovered from the negative publicity surrounding her alleged involvement in the unsolved murder of director William Desmond Taylor.

Plot:  New York City awaits a massive series of tidal waves which has already struck the North American west coast. As the waves strike and destroy the city, Martin is separated from his family. Seemingly the only survivor, he meets Claire, and they give one another aid and comfort during the crisis. Later, other survivors arise. As society attempts to rebuild, Martin and his wife Helen reunite. Peggy, who has shared a great deal with Martin during their time alone, informs Lois that she will not live without Martin.
Rotten Tomatoes:   A solar eclipse, a massive tidal wave, and the last few people on Earth provide the focus of this early disaster film, set in a soggy New York City. Only one man in the Big Apple survived the wave. He swims out of the city and later meets the Eve to his Adam. He believes that his wife and child are dead, so he begins courting the woman and defending her against marauding stragglers. Things go well until his real wife shows up.
